THE TEST

So I had an epiphany while reading 1Cor. 13; I started feeling the weight of the message when I got to verse 7; it hit me real hard when I navigated through to verse 13; I just knew right then that I had to write this! Its the test of true love..........

Profess not that ye have loved,

If with long-suffering ye have not endured;

With diligent caution, examine your thoughts,

With sober reflection evaluate your conduct:

If envy or hate hath found in you a place,

Or perchance for your ego, you have secured a space;

Pride not thyself in the knowledge of love,

Only the brave have learned the secrets of the word.

It is patient and kind, but so hard to find,

The concept so often, wrongly defined!

It’s more than the simple mind can understand,

It’s a test only the strong can comprehend.

It is not love, if it isn’t kind,

For love and compassion are intertwined;

And if it is puffed up, it is not love,

For self must die, if love will thrive.

Love bears all things, when others resign;

And believes all things, when hope seems a crime;

Love hopes all things, when there’s nothing left but sand;

It endures all things, and the cross is the sign!

If it should fail, it was never love,

For love is perfect and it faileth not;

Only the courageous understand its weight,

And have learned the fortitude to love with grace.

But love is the ultimate; you could never go wrong;

Love is the pillar that makes us strong;

Love is everything without which we are nothing!

Love is our life, because love is God.
