This is a complex question. As with women, what a man really wants evolves, as he develops and matures in life.
In his teens and in early adulthood, a man wants a friend who will also help him meet his sexual desires. As he begins to mature and decides to settle down, he begins to add more desires to these basic, primitive needs. He then begins to desire someone to respect him, help him raise a family, share some of the responsibilities of life with him. A woman who understands this and helps him achieve this while also ensuring he meets her desires is likely to have a good, long lasting relationship with a man. However, please note it won't be much of a relationship if she helps him achieve his own objectives and doesn't work with him, to teach him how to help her meet her own objectives.
Can men be taught to understand women, so they can make women happy, while getting their own happiness in return? Now THAT'S the question! :)
CAN men be taught? YES! Do they WANT to be taught......Hmmmmmmmmm!
Believe me 99% don't even know that there is something to be learned. Women are an enigma they would rather not tackle, a puzzle they stopped trying to figure out since the days of our forefathers! It's easier to just decide for themselves what they think women want and I can fairly deduce from the manner in which the majority of men treat their women, that a man's general idea of a woman is that she is fickle, simple minded and materialistic; a mere acquisition meant solely for his pleasure and as long as he spoils her with material 'things', she should be fine! Someone is thinking right now that I'm being too hard on men - but tell me, how many men can actually sit down and tell you about their women, huh? I mean really define their women better than the woman would herself? But ask a woman about her man ....... I'll pause it there, food for thought.
The Proverbs 31 woman, that's a real woman. Guess what? The man in the narrative above, 'EVE', apparently has a Proverbs 31 woman at home yet he seeks the woman in Proverbs 5:5! Why? What is it he is looking for? Why does the husband of a good woman seek forbidden spoils? Well, Proverbs 9: 17 did say that stolen waters are sweet, and bread eaten in secret is pleasant.
I'm thinking that perhaps the answer to the question 'What do men really want is - 'Men don't really know what they want 99% of the time, so even when they see it they don't recognise it, and when they have it it's easy for them to loose it or misuse it.'
My guess is, it'll be a better place for us all, where men learn Patience, express Passion, acquire Wisdom and invest Time in the one woman that can make this earth a heaven and a haven for them!
The question begging to be answered is - what do men really want?
